Raes, David

David RAES (born 1976) graduated from the Brussels University School of Law (Lic. Juris with Magna cum laude, ULB, 2000) and from the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago (LLM 2001) from which he holds a Master of Laws in commercial and contract law.

  Member of the Brussels Bar since 2001, David Raes started his practice with the law firm Linklaters - De Bandt before joining Janson Baugniet where he has been practicing commercial and contract law for several years, among others in the fields of banking and finance. He conducts legal proceedings (both judicial and arbitration litigation) and drafts opinions and contracts.  

His experience in the United States (in the State of New York in 1994-1995 as an exchange student and in Chicago in 2000-2001) gives him the opportunity to provide a full range of legal services in English.   In 2004, he was awarded both the "Le Jeune" prize and the prize of the public in the respective pleading contests "Prix Le Jeune et Janson" and "Concours Adrien Wolters" on human rights. The same year, he joined the Commercial Law Commission of the Brussels Bar.   Since 2006, David Raes is Assistant Professor at the Brussels University. His fields of teaching are civil obligations and contract law.
