Jan Ghysels

Jan co-leads the firm’s Public & Administrative law practice. He has  extensive experience in all fields of public law and frequently represents clients before Belgium’s Administrative Supreme Courts. 

His field of activity mainly covers: planning law, environmental law (environmental permits, soil pollution, waste, noise, odour), expropriations, public contracts and public procurement, public authorities liability, environmental criminal law, energy law, construction and real estate law, medical administrative law (e.g. law on medicines), civil servants law and municipal and provincial law (administrative areas governed by local public authorities). 

He advises project developers, companies, private individuals and public authorities. He frequently represents clients before the Council of State (the highest administrative court), the Constitutional Court and other courts and tribunals. 

Jan is specialized in administrative and constitutional law. He regularly represents clients before the Council of State, the Constitutional Court as well as specialized administrative courts . 

Jan also assists public authorities in the drafting of regulations.
