Jonas De Smet
Jonas De Smet is counsel at Janson in the commercial litigation department and the Corporate, M&A & Private Equity department.
Since his admission to the bar, Jonas has been working in the fields of commercial litigation and corporate and M&A law. Combining both activities, Jonas understands very thoroughly, on the one hand, when dealing with a commercial dispute, how the original cooperation came about and, on the other hand, when assisting in transactions, he can draw attention to possible later points of contention from practical experience.
Jonas De Smet is also a teaching assistant at the University of Leuven and an accredited mediator.
He works in Dutch (native), French and English.

Handling a billion-dollar claim by a disgruntled shareholder following a failed overseas investment;
Years of legal counsel and sounding board of several start-ups and scale-ups;
Legal guidance for start-ups and scale-ups linked to the necessary transactions to further sustain their growth, particularly in the renewable energy and transformation market;
Counselling internal shareholder disputes, both in and out of court (mediation - amicable settlements);
Handling corporate disputes (nullity of decisions of corporate bodies, directors' liability, appointment of provisional administrators, breaches of shareholder agreements or management agreements, non-competition infringements), including disputes regarding listed companies;
Conducting arbitration proceedings;
