Lydie Van Muylem

Lydie is a partner in the Banking & Finance department, where she also practices commercial litigation. 

 
 

Since her admission to the bar in 2010, Lydie has been working in the fields of commercial litigation and corporate and M&A law. These two fields, between which she mainly divides her practice, feed each other and allow her to approach each transaction or dispute in a pragmatic and informed way.

Lydie also has extensive experience in banking and financial law, a field in which she has published numerous articles, particularly in the area of credit, payment services and financial products.

The main sectors of activity in which she has had the opportunity to gain particular experience are the banking, medical and real estate sectors.

Clients appreciate her strong analytical and listening skills, which allow her to find the best solution for their interests.

She works in French, English and Dutch.

    • Assisting two of the four main Belgian credit institutions in several litigations concerning funding loss in the context of credit agreements

    • Assisting a financial institution in a litigation concerning the consequences of a takeover bid

    • Assisting victims of a fraudulent "branch 23" investments

    • Defending payment service users and payment service providers in litigations concerning payment fraud (Phishing and Business Email Compromise)

    • Assistance in the negotiation and acquisition of an internationally renowned fashion group

    • Drafting of numerous share purchase agreements and shareholders' agreements for companies active in fields such as real estate, food processing and IT consulting

    • Assistance to a foreign operator in entering the Belgian telecommunications market

    • Drafting of the contractual framework for the launch of a reverse factoring activity

    • Assistance to a cultural institution operating world-renowned concert halls in the negotiation of an emphyteusis contract

    • Drafting of general terms and conditions for a number of commercial companies, notably in the retail, chemical and medical industries
