Marie Vastmans

Marie is a Partner at Janson's Public and Administrative Law department, where she practices in all areas of public and administrative law, with a particular focus on public procurement and public contracts, including concessions and public-private partnerships (PPPs).

With over 20 years of experience, Marie has been instrumental in advising both contracting authorities and economic operators throughout the entire lifecycle of public works, supply, and service contracts. Her extensive knowledge and proficiency extend to litigation related to the award and performance of public contracts, making her an invaluable asset in navigating complex legal landscapes.

Beyond her legal practice, Marie is deeply committed to advancing knowledge in public procurement. She serves as the Managing Director of ESIMAP (Centre d’Etudes Services et Information en matière de Marchés Publics), a non-profit organization dedicated to this field. In her role, Marie oversees various training and publication initiatives, ensuring that valuable information and insights are shared widely.

Marie is recognized as a Specialist in administrative and public procurement law by the French Bar Association of Brussels. She is also an active member of the Public Law Commission of the Brussels Bar and Avocats.be, further solidifying her status as a leading expert in her field. Additionally, she practices in both French and Dutch.

    • Advising the Belgian State in awarding a contract for passport production, ensuring a smooth and successful process.

    • Providing counsel to various companies on participating in public contracts for medical devices, aiding navigation of public procurement complexities.

    • Assisting he City of Namur in implementing the Confluence project and managing European subsidies, crucial for the city's development.

    • Supporting the project developer for Mont-Légia hospital, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards.

    • Providing guidance to SWL in the European Court of Justice regarding the "in-house" exception and public-public partnerships, facilitating cooperation between public entities.

    • Advising a contractor in the construction of Mons railway station, ensuring adherence to guidelines and standards.

    • Assisting the developer of Rives Ardentes eco-neighbourhood in Liège, managing European subsidies, and promoting sustainability and community development.
